Our Basis

As the guiding principle of its work and witness, the Society acknowledges the whole Bible as the inspired, inerrant Word of God, the sole, supreme and infallible rule of faith and practice, providentially preserved by God and able to make men wise unto salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus. The documents listed below more fully outline the Society's beliefs and stand.

  • The Constitution of the Society: This was first produced as a result of our inaugural meeting in December 1831 and provides details of the Laws and Regulations under which we operate. It covers a wide range of matters including our work, membership and administration, and statements of our beliefs regarding the Trinity, the work and person of the Lord Jesus Christ and the person of the Holy Spirit.   • An Introduction to the Society‘s Principles: Since 1831 the Trinitarian Bible Society has been engaged in the publication and distribution of faithful and trustworthy versions of the Holy Scriptures in many languages throughout the world. This Introduction provides a discussion of the principles underlying the Society's work and witness. [read more]
  • Statement of Doctrine of Holy Scripture: The Reformation Confessions such as the Westminster (1647), the Savoy (1658), and the London Baptist (1689), state regarding Scripture that, 'The Old Testament in Hebrew, (which was the native language of the people of God of old,) and the New Testament in Greek, (which at the time of the writing of it, was most generally known to the nations,) being immediately inspired by God, and, by his singular care and providence, kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentical...
