The Kalenjin Bible Translation team in Kenya are most grateful for this grant. This is a milestone in the defence and the furtherance of the Gospel. A Kalenjin Christian can confidently hold this copy and declare it the very Word of God. We are most thankful for the TBS and everyone that contributed to this great success. Many doctrines that had been distorted in the many versions in the markets are now fully restored in this translation, which is based on old time Received Text and is faithfully transmitted. May the Name of the Lord be glorified. Soli Deo Gloria.

My sons are so thankful for the Bibles you sent them!! Thank you again for encouraging young ones to hide God’s Word in their heart, that they may not sin against Him and that they may be directed by it as a Lamp and Light.

The boys were eagerly awaiting the Bibles after working hard to get the verses memorised. And this is also good motivation for their younger brothers who are working on the first set of verses now.

Amharic is spoken in Ethiopia, a country in the horn of Africa. In total there are around 90 languages in Ethiopia, but Amharic is the working language.

It is rooted in a rich and consistent manuscript tradition, including thousands of ancient Hebrew texts where the full Divine Name appears with vowel markings. These manuscripts demonstrate that Jehovah was intended to be read and pronounced, not merely substituted with Adonai. Linguistically, Jehovah aligns with the Hebrew verb for ‘to be’, echoing God’s self-revealed name in Exodus 3.14 and reinforcing His eternal nature as ‘He who was, is, and shall be’.

]]> Wed, 7 Jan 2026 14:00:00 GMT The Legend of The Lost Book and The Lisu People https://www.tbsbibles.org/news/news.asp?id=713847 https://www.tbsbibles.org/news/news.asp?id=713847 ‘The Legend of The Lost Book and The Lisu People’ recounts how the Lisu people long believed an ancient tale that their ancestor had lost a sacred book given by their god, Wu Sa, which a dog had eaten. This legend said that one day a white man would come from afar bringing back their lost book and king. In the early 1900s, missionary James O. Fraser of the China Inland Mission arrived in the Lisu mountains with the Gospel. Many believed he fulfilled the prophecy, but he taught them that their true King was Jesus Christ.

Fraser, with the help of a Karen evangelist named Ba Thaw, created a written script for the previously unwritten Lisu language—now called the Fraser Script—and began translating the Bible. The New Testament was completed in 1938, and the full Bible in 1968. Despite persecution during China’s Communist era, the Lisu church endured, and today the majority of Lisu in China and Myanmar are Christians.

The Trinitarian Bible Society (TBS) published a Lisu Bible in 1980 based on the Received Text, and ongoing revisions continue so the Lisu people may once again have a fully faithful edition of God’s Word in their own tongue.

The Apostle Paul used similar language in describing Gospel work at Ephesus (1 Corinthians 16.9) and Troas (2 Corinthians 2.12), acknowledging both the privilege and the challenge inherent in such work. Thank you for the Bibles my children received ... All three children were delighted to receive their Bibles. They use them for their regular Bible studies and were very excited to discover the Bible reading plan in the back. Currently they’re each reading a chapter a day in order and started at different times but they intend to each switch to the reading plan once they’ve completed a full read through so that eventually they’ll all be doing the same readings and can discuss them together. In future they intend to complete the quizzes and choose for Bibles to be sent to other children.
