Chinese Scriptures

For several years the Society has had a small team of native Mandarin Chinese translators undertaking a new translation of the Chinese Bible directly from the original Hebrew Masoretic and Greek Received Texts, while utilising the accepted ecclesiastical and theological terminology found in the much-loved Chinese Union Version. Our new translation of the Chinese Gospel according to John was published in print form in early 2017 in two editions—Chinese only and Chinese-English. These are also available online here and here respectively.

We are also delighted to share the good news that the first draft translation of the Chinese New Testament has almost been completed. Over the coming the year this draft text will be reviewed and revised with the hope that it can be finalised by mid-2019. Thereafter, God willing, the New Testament will be typeset and made ready for printing.

We would encourage you to remember the TBS Chinese Bible project in your prayers. Please hold up in prayer the Chinese translators and proofreaders, and also the advisers, project partners and the Editorial Department. See Exodus 17.10-12.
