Supporting the Society

Under the gracious hand of our God, the work of the Society is enabled to continue through the support given by many individuals, churches, assemblies, auxiliaries and other organisations. This support is provided in a number of different ways.

The importance of prayer cannot be overstated. The prayerful association of our supporters is much desired, and we are conscious of the Lord answering prayer in many different situations as we seek to spread the Word of God among all nations.

We encourage all our friends and supporters to remember the Society in prayer. For those wishing to pray about more specific items, in particular we would draw attention to the following items.

  1. The work of the translation and revision of Scriptures, which are often long-term projects requiring very detailed attention.
  2. We receive many letters and emails from our contacts around the world in response to our work in distributing the Holy Scriptures; some of these can be very inspiring and instructive, others heartrending.
  3. Many within the Society work diligently to make new products available for sale, and we look to the Lord to add His blessing to these endeavours.
  4. From time to time more immediate news items appear that we feel would be of interest. These are included for your prayerful consideration on the recent news page.
  5. Our social mediaparticularly Facebook and Twitterprovide information daily (and sometimes more often).

Your donations help us finance the work of distributing the Holy Scriptures throughout the world in many languages and forms, particularly to those who cannot afford to buy them. Such monetary income is also used to fund the work of Bible translation and revision as we seek to produce Bible translations which are accurate and trustworthy in other languages.

One way of supporting the Society is by becoming a member. As a member, you can participate more fully in the work and witness of the Society and vote at our Annual General Meeting. And your annual subscription fee, held at a minimum for many years, helps support the Society in our day-to-day activities. More information about Society membership and a link to apply are available on the About Membership page.

The Society has a number of volunteer-run auxiliaries and local committees which seek to further the Society’s work and interests in particular geographical areas. The activities of these auxiliaries vary, but typically they seek to encourage membership in the Society and involvement in its work. Several auxiliaries hold public meetings for worship, prayer and/or information-sharing. Some are particularly active in the distribution of God’s Word into schools, prisons, care homes, military establishments and other places in their local areas. At least one auxiliary in the recent past has bought advertising space to display the Word of God in prominent public places. Auxiliaries with their own website content are listed below.

Churches and congregations

Many churches and assemblies support the Society in a variety of ways. The list below is a selection of some of the ways in which groups of God’s people can help further our work.

  1. A large number of churches and assemblies invite a speaker to give a message from God’s Word and to talk about the work of the Society.
  2. At these meetings, or on other occasions, churches and assemblies make donations either as one-off congregational collections (love-offerings) or as part of their regular giving to the Lord’s work.
  3. Some congregations are also involved with the work of our local auxiliaries, which seek to coordinate the activities of supporters in certain geographic areas.
  4. Most importantly, however, they pray for us on a regular basis, bringing our needs before the Throne of Grace as we seek to fulfil the Lord’s Great Commission through the spread of the Word of God among all nations.
