CANCELLATION OF TBS OPEN DAY 14 MARCH 2020
10 March 2020
The TBS Open Day planned for this Saturday is cancelled.
The decision to cancel has not been easy, as many supporters, staff members and volunteers have been looking forward to the Open Day and a good number of places have been booked online. However, the Senior Managers and the Chairman all agree that after careful consideration and prayer, on balance, it is wisest to cancel.
Official advice about the Covid-19 coronavirus is being updated regularly as the situation at home and overseas develops, and it is conceivable that over the next few days this might extend to restrictions on public gatherings. To cancel with a few days’ notice is inconvenient, but it does at least allow sufficient time to contact everyone who has registered for the Open Day, something that would not be possible if we cancelled at the very last minute.
Specific factors that we were mindful of include the welfare of supporters and staff members who may be vulnerable to the virus as well as the recent overseas travel destinations and likely quarantine implications of some who were expected to be present, including speakers.
Whilst some of you may have been prepared to attend the Open Day regardless of the current public health concerns, others have expressed concern. We hope that you will nevertheless appreciate why the decision to cancel has been made. On the positive side, all preparations for this Open Day can be held over for the next event, meaning that the next Open Day will be much easier to organise. Once the current difficulty around Covid-19 has passed, we will provide an update of when the next Open Day might take place, if the Lord wills.
This notice will be circulated as widely as possible, but please do share it with anybody you know who was planning to attend. Please continue to remember the Trinitarian Bible Society in your prayers.
