Thadou Bible project
24 September 2020
The Thadous are an ethnic tribe native to north-eastern India and eastern Bangladesh. They are one of the largest tribes among the Kukis, with a total population of 300,000, of whom nearly 200,000 live in the Indian state of Manipur. The Society published
their first edition of the Thadou New Testament in 1973. However, close to five decades would pass before the entire Thadou Bible was ready to print.
At the time of writing, we rejoice that 11,000 copies of the Bible and 20,000 copies of a large print edition of the New Testament are nearing a large Indian seaport after close to three months in transit from the USA. Please pray that these Scriptures
will freely pass through Indian customs and border bureaucracy and safely onwards to Manipur, where they are eagerly awaited by the Thadou tribe. We are grateful for our partnership on this project with firstBible International who raised the funds
for these Scriptures to be printed at Bearing Precious Seed, Milford, Ohio.
‘He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him’ (Psalm 126.6).
