Dan/Gio Bible Project
26 September 2022
In God’s often mysterious providence, the native Dan/Gio speaker tasked locally in Liberia with typing up the New Testament text, did not have as good a knowledge of the language as anticipated and regrettably did not always correctly place the four tonal
marks the language uses. Consequently, the checking of the typeset New Testament has taken longer than envisaged; correcting the misplaced and misused tonal marks is slow and painstaking and yet very important as the marks and the placement of them
affects meaning. Accordingly this has delayed publication of the New Testament by the best part of a year. This has also had a knock‐on delay in formal commencement of the Old Testament translation phase, although some work has been done in Genesis,
Exodus, and Leviticus. Nevertheless, we have been touched that the Lord has seen fit to provide funding for the printing of the New Testament and we have the promise of funding for the Old Testament translation phase; indeed, an initial amount has
already been received for the Old Testament part of the project.
