News & Press: Quarterly Record

The Word of God Among All Nations

17 April 2023

The Quarterly Record ends with a section called 'The Word of God Among All Nations'. It is a collection of letter received from grantees essentially as received. The Lord is using His Word to the glory of His Name and the furtherance of His Kingdom as the Scriptures are distributed among the nations of the world. The following letters are taken from Quarterly Record 642; more can be read there.

From England

I email to acknowledge delivery and receipt of twenty Bibles and to report on where and how these Bibles are freely distributed, and especially to thank you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for the free provision by yourselves of these Bibles. Bibles are freely given to people at an indoor market stall (open four days a week) to anyone requesting one. We usually start a conversation with visitors to the stall by asking ‘Have you got a Bible?’, then off er them a free one. We explain where to start reading (usually the Gospel according to Mark) and give them a free Bible Word List and Reading Plan provided by yourselves. During suitable weather Saturday afternoons we have open air street meetings in the town centre, with a table of Gospel literature and free Bibles available. We often emphasise to people accepting a Bible that, unless it is opened and read, it is of no value, like a closed umbrella in the rain!

From a prison chaplain in England

I have recently been showing the guys in here the Bible Journeys puzzle books that you sent me.

The guys loved them and I can see why. The way that we will be using them is as a distraction pack. What this means is that some of the guys we get struggle with being in prison and being locked behind their doors and can even self-harm. Some of the guys really like stuff to do so that they don’t harm themselves. Normally we don’t have much to give them apart from colouring pages and bits like that.

The guys that I gave these to were blown away and found these a massive help and something that was totally different, and a challenge and a help in growing their faith. One of the gentlemen who I tested them out on said that these had stopped him from harming himself. He is a gentlemen who when he self-harms he does it in a big way and needs hospital, so for me this was a massive help, and support for him.

From Kenya

We just wanted to let you know that the consignment of Bibles has arrived safely at our office in Nairobi this morning. There was so much excitement amongst our team there and even amongst the others who have offices at the same compound.

We are so humbled by what the Trinitarian Bible Society have done for us and the people of Kenya and Uganda by providing these Scriptures. As a small organisation we see great demand for the Word of God but for us to purchase and ship such a quantity of Bibles would have been a great challenge, but through yourselves God has provided.

We just wanted you to know just how grateful we are. Our team of locals are just so thankful and praising God. We will now take some days just to sort out some of the Bibles to be transported up to Western Kenya as we have children there waiting to receive Bibles. We give them out after they complete a series of lessons. Others will be given in Nairobi itself.
