Persian (Farsi) Bible Revision
31 July 2023
Persian, also known as Farsi, is predominantly spoken and used officially within Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan in three mutually intelligible standard varieties, namely Persian, Dari, and Tajik. We are delighted that the online edition of the TBS Persian New Testament—available at tbsonlinebible.com/#fa—is being accessed from Afghanistan as well as Iran and other countries where Persian speakers reside. Our main reviser is exceptionally busy, but he continues to revise the Old Testament text of the 1895 Persian Bible. It is hoped that the Old Testament revision work can be completed during the next eighteen months, with the aim of publishing the complete Bible by the end of 2025. Use of the New Testament text (in part or in whole) has been granted to several other organisations, who are preparing or have prepared their own printings of various portions of the text. It has also been printed locally in Iran and Turkey. A total of 44,500 New Testaments were printed in the past year.
