Kisanga (Democratic Republic of Congo)
17 October 2023
Kisanga (or Sanga) is a Bantu language chiefly spoken in some of the southern areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Some estimates place the number of Kisanga speakers at 1.1 million. The Society published a Kisanga Bible in 1991. During the past year the Society has been in contact with an organisation who would like to print Kisanga Bibles and with people who could help evaluate the text. The evaluation work is progressing slowly, but it is evident that there are some areas where revision would be necessary in order to comply with the standards and principles of the Society. Copyright on the New Testament and Isaiah is held by the Scottish Bible Society who have given permission for it to be reprinted but we await their permission to amend the text. Please remember this project in your prayers. ‘Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts’ (Jeremiah 15.16).
