More Bibles For Zambia

Once again a large grant of Scriptures and articles has been sent to Zambia for onward distribution. In total, 170 Westminster Reference Bibles, 1,100 Royal Ruby Bibles, 1 Hebrew/Greek Bible, and 100 Chichewa New Testaments, as well as 1,400 articles were sent to the grantee.

Zambia is a landlocked tropical country in the heart of Africa and has a rapidly growing population, currently around 18.3 million. Nearly all Zambians identify as Christian, which means a ready reception for the Scriptures. Yet while there is a literacy rate of 87% most people are too poor to afford a Bible. Wages are around 15-20 times less than in Western nations.

There are 72 languages recognized in Zambia, but many of them are only spoken in local areas. While English is the secondary language of many people, it is the official language of the country and widely spoken and preferred in business.
