Spanish Bible Launch in Spain
15 November 2023

The conference room in Madrid was packed for the presentation of the revision of the Reina-Valera Spanish Bible in November 2023. Many travelled considerable distances from places such as Barcelona and Valencia. The presentations by the revision
team showed how the revision was a careful work that was faithful to the original Reformation translation by Casiodoro de Reina and Cipriano de Valera. It was important to have the launch in the native country of the language and of a few of
the translators.
The revisers ensured that the newly revised Bible fully conformed to the underlying Masoretic Hebrew Old Testament and Greek Textus Receptus New Testament texts Reina and Valera had used. They also sought to restore it, to the fullest extent possible,
to the 1602 Reina-Valera Bible while respecting the current rules of Spanish vocabulary, grammar and spelling. This new Bible required many years of labour but the revisers underlined their desire that all the glory would go to the Lord alone.

The meeting was also addressed by the Society’s President, Mr Paul Rowland, who gave thanks to God for reaching this stage while acknowledging it was only the beginning of making this Bible available. Many similar events have been held across South and
Central America in response to great demand in these countries. Further events and distribution are planned in coming months.
