A Faithful Translation for Amharic Speakers

An Amharic translation project commenced in 2012 and the Gospel according to John was published in 2015. Nearly 100,000 copies were shipped to Ethiopia and quickly distributed. At the end of 2021 the New Testament and Psalms was printed—10,000 copies were printed in Europe and an additional 5,000 by Bearing Precious Seed in Milford, Ohio. Printed copies arrived in Ethiopia in late 2022. Also in 2022, our registration in Ethiopia as a foreign‐based religious organisation was granted. This will help to import and distribute the recently printed Amharic New Testament and Psalms and to promote our work and principles across the country.

The photos shown here are from the first annual meeting held in Ethiopia. Some of the attendees travelled over three hours to join the meeting. One of our UK Deputation Speakers, the Rev. Craig Dennison, was also able to attend and addressed the group. 

There has been a very enthusiastic reception for this new translation at many launch events across Ethiopia and more recently in South Africa, with further distribution events planned in various locations. Work on the Old Testament is progressing, and it is hoped that the first draft of the whole Pentateuch will be completed in the coming months.
