The Continued Desire for Armenian Bibles

08 January 2024

In 1998 the Society commissioned an Armenian couple to revise the classical Bible of 405 A.D., bringing it into closer conformity to the Hebrew Masoretic and Greek Received Texts, using current literary Eastern Armenian. The Gospel according to John was first published in 1999, followed by the New Testament in 2005 and the entire Bible in 2012. The Armenian Bible has been very well received and tens of thousands of copies have been distributed, both by the Society and by other organisations under license.

There is at the present time in Armenia a terrible humanitarian crisis and, simultaneously, a hunger for God’s Word.

In September 2023, after months of blockade, war, and violence, 100,000 refugees escaped their homes in Nagorno-Karabakh, and many are now living in very cramped and impoverished conditions all over Armenia. The political state of Armenia itself is very uncertain and many Armenians have become hopeless, fearing war every day, and living in much trepidation.

During a recent visit to a distribution office in Yerevan, Armenia to obtain a number of TBS Armenian Bibles (supplied by Bearing Precious Seed), a distributor said, ‘This is the most important part of the aid we distribute. Food runs out and clothes will wear out, but this will comfort the hearts of my friends’.

Please remember these brothers and sisters in Christ in prayer and that many Armenians will find comfort in the Scriptures being distributed.
