New Translation Project!
12 March 2024
Halam is a tribal language spoken in Tripura, India by approximately 58,000 people. We are thankful to begin a translation project in this language as this is the first time the Halam tribe will see any part of the Bible in their mother tongue.
A pilot project was approved by the General Committee in 2023. The team have made good progress and a first draft of the Gospel according to John has been completed. It is being circulated to every village to the church pastors, elders, and other leaders.
After feedback the translators will then prepare a second draft which they also plan to circulate. After this the usual translation analysis checking will be carried out.
‘Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.’ (Ephesians 3.20-21).
