Dan New Testament Published

04 March 2025

Dan is a tonal language spoken in Liberia and the Ivory Coast by 1.6 million people. In 2008, the Lord raised a new team who began revising the Dan New Testament. For 16 years, a small group of project leaders based in Monrovia (the capital of Liberia) has led a team of translators based in Nimba county, in rural Liberia.

After years of careful checking of the tone marks, spelling, vocabulary, and sentence structure, the Dan New Testament text was finalised and approved for print in 2024. We are grateful that it has been printed and copies are now available at our UK Headquarters. The team continues to make progress with the Old Testament with initial draft translation work completed in the historical books.

‘For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ’ (2 Corinthians 4.6).

How to pray for this project:

  • For the delivery and distribution of the New Testaments in Liberia.
  • For the planning of the thanksgiving and launch services, and the distribution efforts thereafter.
  • For the revisers and proofreaders as they continue to make progress on the Old Testament.
