Translation Assistance Needed

Over the last three years, the number of active translation and revision projects has nearly doubled. Today, we manage nearly 80 projects at various stages, each with its own complexities and difficulties. One pressing need is for dedicated native speakers to help move some of these projects forward. Translators/Revisers

Like William Tyndale, translators and revisers must have ‘a burning and compulsive burden to translate the Bible into [their] mother tongue’. The Word of God itself directs multiple times that Scripture is to be translated into every tongue, and, where possible, we aim to have teams of translators rather than just one person translating. Several of our projects are in need of additional translators or revisers. For example:

• Bulgarian: Our lead reviser passed away and the work remains largely unfinished.
• Breton: We have received permission to lightly revise the text, but no one has stepped forward yet.
• Modern Greek: One of the revisers withdrew from the work due to health reasons.

Reviewers/Proofreaders

Once a translation is completed, we seek feedback from multiple native speakers to ensure readability and, where possible, verify accuracy. Some projects needing reviewers and proofreaders include:

• Albanian: The Gospel according to John has been initially revised, but we need more reviewers to evaluate the text, and revisers for the New Testament work.
• Italian: The text was digitised and is being checked; however, an additional native speaker would be helpful to assist with this before it is published on our Online Bible App.
• Swedish: The translation work is now close to completion, and native or fluent Swedish speakers are needed for independent review with a view to publishing it.
