Korean Bible Revision Project

02 April 2025

Korean is the heart language of 81 million people. North and South Korea both have their own dialect, and South Korea also has a few regional dialects. Outside of the Korean peninsula, Korean is mainly spoken in Australia, Canada, China, Japan, Russia, the UK, and the USA. Our translation project is the Seoul vernacular of South Korea, the most widely understood dialect in South Korea.

Over the past two years, we have been digitising and reviewing a Korean Bible translation that had already been favourably assessed in relation to text and translation. Much of the text has been digitised, and the Gospel according to John is currently being reviewed by dedicated Korean-speaking Christians.

In addition to our work on the Scriptures, we have translated our article, Why John 7.53–8.11 is in the Bible, which addresses the significance of the passage of the woman taken in adultery. We hope that this article will introduce and help Korean-speaking believers and seekers understand the historical and textual foundations of the Scriptures.

We are grateful for how the work is progressing thus far and pray that both will be completed and printed by summer 2025.

‘And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose’ (Romans 8.28).

How to pray for this project:

  • For the review work on the Gospel according to John to go smoothly and that it will be a faithful translation.
  • For the reviewers to receive wisdom and help as they complete their work on the reviews.
  • That the printing and distribution efforts will proceed without hindrances and that Koreans worldwide will be transformed by the Word of God.
