French Revision Project
22 April 2025
Over 300 million people speak French throughout the world—and they all need a faithful Bible. Since 2013 a team of French speakers has been revising the 1872 Lausanne Bible. By the grace of God, the French New Testament was published in 2023, and it has
been very well received, especially in Francophone Africa. Tens of thousands of copies of it have already been printed, and, Lord willing, we hope that future printings will include Psalms and Proverbs.
Last week members of our French revision team met in Toulon, France to advance the Old Testament revision work. The Psalms, Proverbs, and Pentateuch were the main focus; these books are nearly finished with some of them already with the reading committee
members. Thus far the project has reached the revision of the book of Isaiah.
Lord willing, in June a conference will be held in Quebec where we hope to further explain the need for reliable and accurate translations of God’s word for French-speakers.

How to pray for the
project:
- For the French team to be given wisdom and guidance as they endeavour to once again provide French speakers with a faithful copy of the Scriptures.
- For the conference planned in Quebec, including the lectures, speakers, attendees, and travel arrangements.
- For the distribution of 50,000 New Testaments in Africa (funded by GBS), and for distribution avenues to be opened in other parts of the French-speaking world.
