The Boro (also sometimes referred to as Bodo) people live in Northeast India and in Nepal. They have traditionally followed the Bathouism religion, a traditional animistic religion, centred on the worship of a supreme deity through the sacred plant Sijou and guided by rituals that honour nature and ancestral spirits. This religion, along with Hinduism, is the religion of 90% of Boros. They need faithful Scriptures in their own heart language.

The current Boro Bible was published in the 1960s in the now unused Latin script and is not based on the Received Text. Since 1975 the language has been written using the Devanagari script, which is also used in Hindi, Nepali, and several other languages. The TBS translation is in the Devanagari script.

The Boro Gospel according to John was published earlier this year, and much of the New Testament has been translated and reviewed. Lord willing, we expect the files for the New Testament to be submitted by the end of this year.

‘Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare’ (Psalm 75.1).

• For the distribution of the Gospel according to John, both in print and digitally.
• For the Scriptures to make many wise unto salvation, for the glory of God.
