1,000 Arabic Bibles Reach Sudanese Refugees in Uganda

24 June 2025

Amid the challenges of conflict and displacement, the Word of God is being distributed to Sudanese refugees who have fled the violence in Darfur, Sudan a region long closed to the Gospel and marked by deep suffering.

The following letter is from the grantee who received the Bibles and is now distributing them to many who are hearing the Gospel for the first time.

I am delighted to report that the Arabic Bibles reached Arua on the border between Uganda and Sudan last week. It was quite a challenge to get them there and has taken many months, but with the help of one of our partner shipping ministries this proved possible. These are for refugees from Sudan who have settled on the border with Uganda.

It is quite a remarkable story of God’s grace. The refugees come from Darfur where there has been genocide against local peoples. It is a strong Muslim area closed to the gospel and very unsafe. Yet through the war and being displaced they have moved hundreds of miles to the Uganda border, but have had chance to hear the Gospel and many have been converted to faith in Christ. They have not asked for any other support than Arabic Bibles, the need for which is great.

Thank you for helping us with this ministry to meet this need. We thank God for this partnership with Trinitarian Bible Society and your work.
