Every Tongue, Every Nation: The Growing Work of Translation

Over the past year the Lord has been extremely gracious to TBS in opening doors to explore and commence projects in several new languages.

We are seeking to have Scripture in the top 20 languages spoken in the world which would cover around 75% of the world’s population. There are only two languages in this list in which we have no options to explore, these are Vietnamese and Javanese.

There are particular areas of expansion geographically that have opened through the commitment of dedicated individuals. These include India, Nepal, Myanmar, and the Philippines.

‘Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning’ (James 1.17).

Summary

• 90 languages: a definite project in which some progress has been made over the last twelve months.
• 45 languages: carrying out research or giving consultancy, advice, and/or exploring the possibility of doing some (further) work.
• 3 languages: stalled projects, yet some prospect of further progress.
• 4 languages: initial work or research has come to a premature end (at least for the present).
