Reaching out to prisoners
17 September 2018
Some of the Society’s Scripture publications are distributed to people in prison. For some prisoners the confinement of their cell leads them to reflect upon their lives and the consequences of their actions, and some are willing to receive and read the Word of God.
After a recent deputation meeting, one of our Deputation Speakers met a man who distributes TBS Words of Life Calendars to prisoners and holds Bible studies with them. This gentleman mentioned a prisoner who began to show great interest in the truth and was subsequently converted. The prisoner had no previous Christian teaching or acquaintance with the Bible, but he now showed a particular love for the English Authorised (King James) Version. If anyone says to him, ‘How can you understand that version?’ his response is, ‘How can I not understand it?’ Having discovered Christ in the Scriptures he is anxious to continue to learn from this faithful rendering of the Word of God.
Please pray that the Lord would enable people to distribute the Scriptures to many more prisoners, and their hearts would be opened to receive the Word. ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life’ (John 3.16)
