New Article: How the Holy Bible came to be.

16 March 2021

'What do you believe about the Holy Bible? Do you believe it was inspired by God? Do you believe that it is therefore infallible? Do you also believe that God preserved His Word so that we can actually hold it in our hands today?'

These words come from a new article the Society has published: How the Holy Bible Came to Be. Written for an audience that is new to confessional bibliology, the article traces the providential hand of God in inspiring and preserving His Word. The article begins with the early church, and then moves on to the Reformation and the publication of the Authorised Version before considering the discovery of the Vaticanus and Sinaiticus manuscripts. It ends with a warning to readers concerning the new theories, such as the Coherence-Based Genealogical Method, which seek to further undermine the Holy Scriptures that God has given us.

As we live in a day and age where attacks are continually made against the Word of God, we hope that this article will be a helpful introduction to the topic of bibliology. As the article concludes, 'More attacks will undoubtedly arise against God’s Word, but the Lord Jesus Christ offers every believer the same level of certainty He enjoyed: "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away" (Matthew 24.35).'
