Spreading the Gospel in Pakistan
09 May 2023
Pakistan, officially known as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is home to the world’s second-largest Muslim population. Approximately 96% of the populace identify as Muslim, 2% as Hindus, 1.8% as Christian, and the remaining identify as Ahmadis and other religions.
The official languages in Pakistan are Urdu and English. However, while Urdu is only spoken by a minority, English is the second language for half of the population. It is the main language used in schools, business, and government, making it a very well-known language, particularly among younger generations. Most people also speak Punjabi, Pashto, or one of the many tribal languages spoken throughout the country.
Pakistan has a large population and as such the Christian population equates to about four million people, the bulk of whom live in Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan. Christians are often discriminated
against and considered ‘second-class’ citizens. Islamic converts, women, and girls are most likely to face persecution.

The Society was very pleased to send Bibles and New Testaments with Psalms to an evangelist in the Karachi region. Care has been given to distribute these to those who need faithful copies of the Holy Scriptures. Please pray for all who received copies of the Scriptures and for the Lord to continue opening doors for further distribution efforts in that vast nation.
‘But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold’ (Job 23.10).
