Scripture Calendars for Burkina Faso
27 June 2023
Approximately 400 Words of Life calendars were sent to a missionary in Burkina Faso for free distribution. Burkina Faso, which means ‘land of the honest men’, is a landlocked country in the heart of Africa that in recent years has become well-known due to the rise in violence caused by Islamic terrorists. It has a population of about twenty-one million people of which one million have been internally displaced due to the violence. Unsurprisingly, Islam is the predominant religion with 62% identifying as such. Christianity is practised by 26% and the remaining follow traditional religions. The need for the Scriptures is great in Burkina Faso, as is highlighted in the following message from the grantee. Thank you for the 400 Words of Life calendars. Several pastors were asking for them. They will be much appreciated. They probably arrived in November/December in good time but I only went to Burkina in mid-February. They have all been distributed. We are working in over 500 primary schools so they will quickly be used up.
