Publicly Reading the Word of God

The Bible speaks much about our hearing and reading the Word of God and the blessing associated with our prayerfully meditating upon its Divine truths. Throughout the Holy Scriptures, in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, there are many instances of men, women, and children who gathered in their day and generation to hear the public reading of the Word of God. It is a blessed thing, and will bring us to everlasting blessedness in the end, when God speaks unto us, to hearken; when He sets His word before us, to read it; when He stretches out His hand and calleth, to answer, Here am I; here we are to do thy will, O God.
